Project Description
The clients brief was to create an open plan kitchen / dining area by removing the existing outhouse and study and opening up the small living room. A large family room was created with full height glazed oak screens incorporating stacking doors to enable the inside space to open out into the garden and to take full advantage of the surrounding rural southerly views. The corresponding north elevation was of cavity wall construction of rendered finish to match existing cottage with no openings except a full height screen at junction of new to old. An existing pvcu conservatory to rear was replaced by a larger garden room again with full height glazed oak screens with stacking doors to link the existing lounge and new family. A slender but deep roof overhang incorporating a reinforced grp flat roofing system was detailed to provide both sun shading and to accommodate existing first floor windows.
