Project Description
etc won this project through a competative tender process with a community land trust in the Midlands. The brief was to design an extremely low energy affordable housing development that was in keeping with the local historic character of the village.
The proposals incorporate design features and building forms prevalent in the surrounding area, introducing a wide pallette of materials to ensure the scheme presents a varied appearance that will blend with the surrounding area. The design incorporates large areas of south facing glazing to maximise solar gains and smaller areas of glazing ot the north to minimise heat loss. Surface water drainage is delt with local to the site by forming a drainage pool which has the dual function of providing a local amenity space in addition to its drainage functions.
