Leigh running

Leigh joined the practice in 2003, becoming Managing Director in 2017 and is responsible for developing the vision of the practice and leading the design and marketing of projects. He is directly involved throughout the project process and is passionate about the detail and ensuring we deliver buildings where the architectural vision has been carried through to completion.

Leigh is also directly involved in supporting and promoting the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) by being the local branch Chairman of the Wolverhampton and District Society of Architects and attending RIBA WM Regional Council meetings. Outside of work, Leigh is keen on all sporting activities and in particular a regular runner and Run Director at his local Telford parkrun as well as a black belt in Shotokan Karate.

Mike started his career in the design department of a Design and Build Contractor before moving into Private Practice in 1984. Mike qualified as a Chartered Architectural Technologist in 1985 and joined etc Design in 1999.

Becoming Finance Director in 2001, Mike is responsible for all Financial aspects of the Practice together with overseeing the technical aspects of each project. He is also responsible for overseeing the Principal Designer services offered by the Practice.

Mike is directly involved throughout the project process and strives to ensure technical detailing on all projects is well considered, cost effective and the most practical solution that delivers the desired design intent.

Mike is a keen golfer and a member of the Dudley Golf Society. He is also an FA qualified football coach.

Helen joined the practice in 2012 and qualified as an architect in 2013. A Revit expert, she has spoken at BIM conferences, taught Revit, and previously lectured at university. As an RIBA Chartered Architect, she is involved in every project stage from inception to construction. While experienced across various building types, she is most passionate about delivering high-quality homes for all. Her proudest projects include an Art Deco home in Wombourne and a recent urban affordable housing scheme in Oldbury—both featured on the website.

Outside work, Helen is the treasurer of the local RIBA branch, a mother of two, and an enthusiastic baker, often making celebration cakes and decorations. A lifelong dancer, she also performs in charity shows with her classmates.

Laura brings a broad perspective to the design process, with experience across three distinct sectors and qualifications including a BArch from the University of Lincoln, MArch from the University of Liverpool, and a Postgraduate Diploma from RIBA North. She works across all stages of the RIBA plan of work, designing and communicating solutions tailored to client needs.

During her MArch, Laura led a project on the Andover Housing Estate in Islington, earning the Frank Horton Award and nominations for the Liverpool Society of Architects Award and EUmies Young Talent Award. She enjoys the diversity of the industry—from visiting historic homes to exploring the technical demands of specialist buildings.

Sandip joined the practice after completing his architecture degree at Birmingham City University. Sandip is involved in early-stage design, producing drawings, renders and planning documents, and liaising with local authorities and suppliers to support project delivery.

Outside of work, Sandip is a Formula 1 enthusiast, enjoys running and walks along the canal, and finds time in nature helps balance the demands of architectural practice.

Fiona has spent most of her career in the building and architectural industry. She began at Sir Alfred McAlpine at 18 before joining her father’s private architectural practice, Peter McAlster RIBA in Codsall, where she worked alongside him and her brother for many years. She later joined etc Design.

Her role is broad, encompassing everything from managing the day-to-day running of the office to supporting clients and staff alike.

Beyond the office, Fiona is passionate about miniature design, enjoys quality time with her family and dog, and appreciates good food – both dining out and cooking at home.
